Shifting Lanes /
One of 3 editorial illustrations I did for Shifting Lanes, a zine about emerging
perspectives in Singapore’s racial discourse.
Initial sketches played with the idea of Raffles' pedestal
being a kind of awards podium
hinting at the implicit racial
hierarchy in Singapore, but the client ultimately opted for the last sketch, which works off the idea
that the lived experiences of
minorities today continues to be coloured by history in ways that are often subtle and rarely addressed.
