Info
A linocut mock book jacket for The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.
The book examines the sometimes painful, often tender, and always deep connection between mothers and daughters in a series of vignettes. The bilingual back cover draws from the idea that books written in Chinese can be read from the opposite end. The back cover depicts scenes from the lives of the mothers, while the front depicts that of their daughters. The composition was inspired by the traditional layout of mahjong tiles—a game which frames the entire story.
